A BRIEF INTRODUCTION OF SHRI. GOPAL SHETTY, M.L.A.
Shri. Gopal Shetty, M.L.A., a “3 ” term Corporator, - has been the first Dy. Mayor when the BMC was administered by the “MAYOR IN COUNCIL” and is also recipient of the “Best Councilor Award” in 1997.
Shri. Shetty grew from very humble background starting his public welfare & social work establishing the “Yuvak Mandal” in 1968 at Poinsur, at a youthful age of 14 years for the benefit of the residents of the area in providing better civic amenities, establishing of Balwadis, drinking water facilities etc.
Starting his political career in 1992 as Corporator under the tutelage and leadership of Shri. Ram Naik, then M.L.A., Shri. Shetty dedicated himself to development and public welfare and his resolute daily Public Contact Program in the morning has made him the man of the masses. To his advantage he is very fluent in Gujrathi, Marathi, Hindi and English for better understanding & communication.
As group leader of the BJP in Brihanmumbai Mahanagarpalika and as secretary, BJP Mumbai he has made major contributions to the organizational work and has now been bestowed with the responsibility of leading the party as President of the Mumbai Bharatiya Janata Party.
He is totally dedicated towards healthy living and open spaces with large Gardens/Sports Complexes & provision of wide roads with proper footpaths for pedestrians etc.
His major contributions to development in Borivali - Dahisar area are:
1. 216 Crore, Mega Tunneling Water Supply Project/Water Connection to
3. Gorai/Manori region.
2. Large Sports Complex/Amusement Gardens etc. like Netaji
2. Subhashchandra Bose Kridangan at Poinsur, Veer Savarkar Udyan,
2. Borivali; Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Kridangan, Dahisar, fully air
2. conditioned Fitness Centre & Joggers Park at Saibaba Nagar, and
2. many other similar Gardens and Sports Academy etc at affordable fees
2. for the middle class.
3. New roads, road widening, provision of footpaths, traffic problems &
3. attending to the development & facilities of Borivali Railway
3. Station/area.
4. Above all, propagating the national consciousness by inviting various
3. sections of the Society particularly the youth & children in celebrating
3. the anniversaries of various National leaders who have sacrificed their
3. life for our nation.

2. New Technical College.
3. Under ground parking lot opposite Ajanta Cinema.
